2 night weekend of musical frivolity at the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz!

We'll be in Santa Cruz on August 20 and 21 with our very good friends Sourgrass for two nights of crazy good times. It will be like a music party that lasts 48 hours. Make a weekend of it - Santa Cruz, so we've heard, is a nice place. Beaches or something like that? Come down, bring your swimming trunks and some zinc oxide to rub on your nose, and drink and dance the night away with all of us.

July 25, 2010

Ahoy folks! So sorry for the long time between updates. Our official website updater (yours truly here) was enjoying a vacation away from such technological doo-dads as computers. But now, on with the updates:

Tao Seeger killlllled it on Friday night. He is a great performer, as was his cohort Laura Cortese. They were amazing, and we loved their set. We were able to cajole them into playing a song or two with us on stage, and that was a blast. Don't know when they'll be back through town, but we sure hope we'll be on stage with them again!

Observe our Shows list to the right... the only thing it is lacking right now is a possible second date in Santa Cruz... and the dates for our upcoming tour in September. But hey - that's a month away. We'll update when the dates are all together, and we'll let you all know all about it. See yous soon.

July 11, 2010

New show added: Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz opening for Tao Seeger on Friday July 23! Of the Pete dynasty, not Bob. This is going to be good fun - and a chance to warm up the Santa Cruzians a'fore we roll through for our first Headlining spot in August.

BIIIG NEWS: The good and amazing people at Mongrel Music booking agency have picked us for the team! They will be handling all bookings from now on, and the mission is to book far, wide, hither and yon! We're very excited. Check out their band roster on the site - we are honored to be on the list!

As for this past weekend: Tahoe is always so good to us Brothers. Thanks Tahoe. Note to bands - playing beerfestivals means that you get paid to drink beer. Lots and lots of different and free beer. Life is good.

June 30, 2010

Aloha thou website surfer.

On the shows listed to your right, you'll see that we added Northstar (at Tahoe)'s Beerfest and Bluegrass to our calendar, and several other choice musical morsels as well. Paruse them at your leisure, and we'll see you tonight in the Poster Room.

THAAAAANNNK YOOOUUUU!!

That goes out to the amazing, rowdy and wonderful people who rolled out to the shows this weekend. Y'all came... What a solid, down-home, make Ben drink some whiskey, good-'ol crowd you all were. We can't thank you all enough, really - there but for the grace and rowdy support of you go we...

We'll be off of the stage for July, but we'll be back in August - and keep your eyes peeled for footage of Strawberry and Telluride in the meantime!

June 23, 2010

Hail hail all web viewers!
We are very much looking forward to tomorrow night - a mere 24 hours from now will find us in our first headlining show at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco! If you still need tickets, you can buy them Right Here!

We'll see you there. And remember - go for the Weird Beard Challenge - two shows in two nights (if you also come to Friday at Hopmonk). Become deputized, and sport your badge of honor with pride! See you soon.

New Video on the new You Tube Channel!

Click on that there link to see we Brothers Comatose in Saint Maries Idaho. This video is from the Spring tour, and we played at Saint Maries Middle School for the greatest crowd a band could ask for: a brigade of rowdy, foot-stomping, sing-alonging 4th 5th and 6th graders. This is them creating the world's greatest version of "Y'all Come" ever.

June 15, 2010

We have given our myspace page a wood-grained, linkified face lift. Please do feel free to investigate.

The You Tube channel will be receiving a similar treatment in coming days, so now you have something to look forward to.

The News:
Our Weekend saw good Thai food and good peoples (thanks Davis and Sophia's). Our weekend saw the beautiful Anderson Valley, apple spritzers, playing music while marching through an orchard, basses bungie-corded to handtrucks, the van, photos with the van, and some warm weather.

What does the future hold for the Brothers Comatose? Well, the band is sending an Ambassadorship on a diplomatic mission to ... The Telluride Bluegrass Festival. There our brave exploring diplomats will be forced to drink and fratrenize with all manner of bow-puller and string-plucker. Will they succeed in spreading the word of The Brothers Comatose? Will they succumb to the temptation of Reno en-route? Only time will tell.

June 7, 2010

Two posts in one day... must mean we made the front page of Crawdaddy!!!

Head on over, read up on Brothers Comatose lore, and leave comments about how they are an amazing and awesome magazine.

June 7, 2010

Another great weekend of music and festivals. We're heading off this Thursday for the land of Davis. Come to Sophia's and we can all eat Thai food and play music together.

June 2, 2010

We received a great review in Performer Magazine! You can find it on that link right back there... For that and all other links to the Brothers Comatose Summer Reading List, check out the bio & press page!

Viva La Strawberry!!!

We had the time of our lives. For further details, please visit the tour page. We'll put up some photos and video just as soon as we collect them from the various cameras and peoples that used them.

And so now we're back, and it's time for more shows, more tours, and more shows. Come and see us at the San Francisco Underground Market this coming Friday! Check their website for how to become a member, get in for free (or discounted) and learn the wild and delicious ways of the urban forager.

Saturday finds us down south in the San Lorenzo Valley playing at the Redwwod Mountain Faire. We play at noooon! See you soooooon!!

May 25, 2010

We've gotten in another ripe and delicious batch of album reviews and we've posted choice quotes and links over on the bio & press page. This is our pre-Strawberry hype. We read the reviews to each other in a big huddle before, during and after rehearsals... we casually drop photocopies of the reviews on tables at crowded cafes... we pretend that we're reading them very loudly to our elderly relatives in public places... We've collected them, bound them, and are giving the "Selected Reviews of The Brothers Comatose's 'Songs From The Stoop'" to friends and family for wedding, birthday, graduation and holiday gifts; ask for it loudly and in front of other customers at your favorite crowded bookstore.

May 23, 2010

Strawberry preparations are in full effect. Blindfolded practices have been rough, as have the autograph signing rehearsals (record is currently 205 autographs in one minute). The sychronized dance moves have been coming along nicely under our choreographer's strict guidance, and we're always busy with our stitching and needlepoint for the costumes. Strawberry is in for a treat.

May 19, 2010

We'll be in the Mission tonight, celebrating Phil's senior recital, and playing a few tunes... after he plays his Mozart, his string quartet business, and his concertos... Then it's back to the rehearsal chamber wherefore to prepare for Strawberry! We trust you all have your tickets and campsites.

May 10, 2010

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend. Slim's was glorious, as was the East Bay (in both its Starry Plough and Anni's party settings). We consider the busy weekend as the beginning of our grueling regimen of military-like, kill-us-or-make-us-stronger-style training that we have undertaken to prepare us for Strawberry. We have superglued our instruments to our hands. We are speaking only in opera-like, vocalized recitative. We eat only bacon. We drink only water from Appalachian springs. We have less than three weeks to learn and master every song ever written.

May 3, 2010

Yes, it has been a spell since we last updated - but it took us that long to recover from the amazingness, goodliness, greattimeyness and goodmusicness of the Devil Makes Three show... but we're back. We're back, and we're ready to play Slim's this Thursday. What? Oh, yes, that was not a mistake of the typing fingers: Slim's this Thursday is where we will be - playing. We'd love to see everyone there - to make a good impression on an honorable and vererable venue, and party party with friends and loved ones. See you then.

April 21, 2010

Hi Ho! Happy Wednesday to ye. This Friday we'll be winging our way to Santa Cruz in the plush, red luxury of our sweet, dear van - wherefore to play music with the gracious and amazing folks of Devil Makes Three. Come down to the Catalyst and enjoy!
And have you investigated the bio page recently? We have been getting some folks to write about the album - sometimes in foreign languages. Anyone speak Dutch?

April 13, 2010

We're playing the Strawberry Music Festival this May!!!... which is exciting. We have updated shows appropriately. Hope to see you this weekend, and then for an entire weekend in May. (That was another reference to the fact that we're playing Strawberry... did we mention that we're excited about it?)

April 6, 2010

The Brothers Comatose would like to usher in the lovely month of April (one week late) with a slew of new show dates. Just feast your eyes on those venues and those bands! Summer is looking nice. See you soon.

Goooood weekend. Friday was the SF Bluegrass and Old-Time Festival - Thanks Ken! This was our one year anniversary with the festival. We brought it chocolates to celebrate. Saturday was... a reason for living. Pete Bernhard, his band and his fans are amazing. We broke our faces smiling too much at Moe's Alley. Music is fun. See you all at the Hootenanny this Saturday.
